 आनंदाचे डोही आनंद तरंग

काल सुसाट चा 157 वा पद्मदुर्ग चा इव्हेंट मस्त झाला..35 पेक्षा अधिक सहभागी..सर्व विविध वयोगटातले..

सुसाट ग्रुप सुरू केला 2010 साली..तेव्हा सुरवातीला children's camp केले..तेव्हा लहान मुले आणि कॉलेज च्या मुलांची उपस्थिती लक्षणीय असायची..आम्ही लीडर पण 40-45 वयोगटातील होतो..त्यामुळे मुले लवकर कनेक्ट व्हायची. त्यांची, तरुणांची भाषा बोलली की ते म्हणायचे अरे..हे लीडर पण आपल्या सारखेच. 

पण आता हीच नेहमी ट्रेक ला येणारी पिढी शिक्षण घेऊन नोकरीला लागली..तिथल्या AC corporate culture मध्ये हरवून गेली.. कार, बाईक किंवा कंपनीच्या बस ने ऑफिस ला जाऊ येऊ लागले..hardship ची सवय मोडली..उन्हात फिरणे हा त्रास वाटू लागला..ट्रेक पेक्षा जीम ला जाणे हे प्रेस्टिज बनले.

आम्ही किंवा आमच्याहून ही वयस्कर ट्रेकर जे किल्ले, गड सहज सर करतात तिथे ही तरुण मंडळी हाफ हूफ करू लागले. त्यांना ट्रेकिंग ही मौज न वाटता त्रासदायक प्रकार वाटू लागला..आनंद कमी झाला की त्याचा परिणाम ट्रेकिंग न करणे किंवा luxury ट्रेकिंग करणे असा दिसू लागला..अनेक ट्रेकिंग क्लब नी मागणी तसा पुरवठा या तत्वांनी लक्झरी ट्रेक आयोजित करायला सुरवात केली..पण ट्रेकिंग म्हणजे चालणे आलेच. सर्व सुखसोयी, मनपसंत जेवण, झोपायला छान टेन्ट, बेड, भरगच्च नाश्ता, पिझ्झा, बर्गर, पास्ता,  ब्रेड आम्लेट वगैरे मस्त लक्झरी असली तरी चालावे लागणारच दिवसभर..ते पण कमी कमी केले..टप्पे छोटे करून..पण तरुणाईचे ट्रेकिंग चे आकर्षण कमी कमी होत गेले. आता बऱ्याच ग्रुपचे average age 35-40 झाले आहे..

तर हे आनंद देणे, घेणे हा वसा सुसाट ने उचलला..ट्रेक बघता बघता भरू लागले. येणारे व्यक्तिगत दुःख, क्लेश विसरून या आनंदाच्या प्रवाहात सामील झाले. ट्रेक/ ट्रीप मध्ये कुठेही घाई नाही, जास्त कठीण चढाई नाही आणि गप्पा गोष्टी करत खात - पीत ट्रेकिंग. हे सर्व वयोगटांना भावते आणि सर्व ग्रुप एक कुटुंब बनून जाते. सध्याच्या जीवनशैली मुळे आई वडिलांचे मुलांशी बोलणे खूप कमी झाले आहे. मोठी कुटुंब नाहीत, घरात मोठी माणसे नाहीत खरंतर 

या पिढीची ही गरज आहे..आई वडील वेळ देऊ शकत नाहीत पण मुलांनी मागितलेल्या वस्तू, महागडे मोबाईल देऊन ते त्याची भरपाई करायला बघतात..पण मुलांना निसर्गात नेणे, त्यांची मने रिकामी करून त्यात आनंद भरणे, लहान लहान गोष्टीतून आनंद कसा मिळवायचा हेच तर सुसाट करतेय..त्यामुळेच आमच्या बरोबर आलेले लहान लहान सहभागी पण जेव्हा असे म्हणतात की आम्ही तुमच्या ग्रुपमध्ये खूप एन्जॉय केले आणि आता नेहमी तुमच्या सोबतच येणार की हे जाणवते की आपण योग्य मार्गाने चाललोय आणि उर आनंदाने भरून येते..

अशीच काही अवस्था वाघीण एक्स मार्क ला बघितल्यावर झाली..

कऱ्हांडला वन संरक्षित क्षेत्रात (नागपूर जवळ) आदल्या दिवशी सकाळी सकाळी एक्स मार्क ची दोन पिल्ले सती जलाशया जवळ सावलीत/जाळीत बसलेली दिसली होती. एक मेल, एक फिमेल..साधारण 16 ते 18 महिन्यांची..अजून एक मेल बछडा आम्हाला दिसला नाही तो विरुद्ध दिशेला गेला..रस्त्यावरून चालत गेलेला मेल पूर्ण वाढ होत आलेला होता..10-12 फूट लांब..अजून 6-8 महिन्यात त्यांची आई (एक्स मार्क) त्यांच्यापासून वेगळी होईल किंवा बछडे तिच्यापासून वेगळे होतील..सध्या पिल्ले वेगळी राहतात पण एक्स मार्क त्यांना प्रोटेक्ट करते आणि शिकार करून खायला देते..त्यामुळे तिचाही वावर पिल्लांच्या आजुबाजूला असणार हा अंदाज होताच पण त्या दिवशी ती नाही दिसली.
दुसऱ्या दिवशी खूप अपेक्षेने लवकर सहा वाजताच जंगलात शिरलो..तडक सती जलाशयाजवळ पोचलो..कालचे बछडे तरी नक्की तिथे असतील अशी खात्री असल्याने सर्व जीप तिथेच होत्या..पण बछडे नव्हतेच..सर्वजण कानोसा घेत काही जंगल कॉल येतायेत का बघत होते. तासभर काहीच नाही..सर्व जीप इतस्ततः विखुरल्या. आम्ही माघारी येऊन एक दोन पाण्याचे स्पॉट चेक केले.. पगमार्क दिसतात का ते पाहिले..तेव्हा दूर थोडे जंगल कॉल होते पण ते खूप लांब होते..आम्ही एक पाण्याचा स्पॉट शोधून रस्त्यावर थांबलो..सकाळची थंड हवा आणि लवकर उठल्यामुळे डोळ्यावर पेंग होती..काहीजण झोपले पण..अर्धातास थांबून सती कुटी ला जाऊन फ्रेश होऊ, आणलेले स्नॅक्स खाऊ असे ठरले..
अर्ध्यातासाने निघालो.. काल जिथे बछडे दिसले तो पॅच ओलांडला..रस्ता संपत होता तिथे एक जीप आमच्या दिशेला तोंड करून उभी होती..त्यांनी खुणेने सायटिंग नाही असे सांगितले..आम्ही डाव्या बाजूने छोट्या वाटेने सती कुटी कडे जायला वळलो..दोन वळणे पार केली आणि तिसऱ्या वळणावर ...एक प्रचंड मोठे, देखणे पट्टेरी जनावर आडवे आले..डोळे विस्फारले.. श्वास थांबला..तो क्षण किती डोळ्यात साठवू असे झाले..पण ते जनावर रस्ता ओलांडून उजवीकडे जंगलात शिरले पण..जीप ड्रायव्हर ने प्रसंगावधान दाखवून गाडी रिव्हर्स घेऊन पुन्हा मेन रस्त्यावर आणली..आम्ही उभ्या असलेल्या जीप ला वाघ येतोय अशी खूण केली..आणि पुन्हा एकदा वाघिण डाव्या बाजूने रस्त्यावर अवतीर्ण झाली. आता मात्र कॅमेरे सरसावले गेले.. छान फोटो मिळाले.. मग मात्र डोळ्यांनीच सर्व दृश्य साठवून घेतले..काय चाल..काय रुबाब..वाघिणीला tigress म्हणतात तो तिचा ग्रेस बघून म्हणत असतील का? ती उजव्या दिशेला जंगलात शिरून दिसेनाशी झाली पण..नंतर गाईड ने सांगितले ती एक्स मार्क होती..त्या बछड्यांची आई. तिच्या चेहऱ्यावर डाव्या बाजूला X-Mark आहे तो आम्ही उजव्याबाजूला असल्यामुळे दिसला नाही फोटोतही आला नाही. असो..
दुपारच्या राईडला पावनी वन संरक्षित क्षेत्रात देखील नशिबाने साथ दिली आणि जलविहार करणारा पूर्ण वाढ झालेला वाघ (अजून नाव ठेवले नाहीये.. न्यू मेल म्हणतात) दिसला..जवळ जवळ 15 मिनिटे डुंबून तो जंगलाच्या दिशेने गेला..जरा दूर होता पण दरारा आणि शान राजाचीच होती..

एकंदरीत प्राणी व पक्षी बरेच दिसले या ट्रिपमध्ये पण मनावर कोरले गेले ते मात्र वाघ दिसले ते क्षण..निव्वळ अविस्मरणीय..

 दक्षिणेची वारी अर्थात टेम्पल ट्रेल

आठ दिवस झाले टेम्पल ट्रेल हून येऊन पण अजून आपल्या ग्रुपमधील महिलांनी म्हटलेले श्लोक मनात घुमतायत... तर..सुरवातीला या प्रचंड व भव्यदिव्य मंदिराच्या स्थापत्यावर व त्यावरील कलाकुसरीवर भारावून गेलेले सर्वजण नंतर इतरांप्रमाणे देव दर्शनाच्या रांगेत उभे राहिलो, देवदेवतांच्या कथा, आख्यायिकांमध्ये गुंतून गेलो. आपल्या ग्रुप मधील सर्वांची पुण्याई फळाला आली आणि इच्छित सर्व देव देवतांचे दर्शन, पूजन यथासांग करता आले हीच या टेम्पल ट्रेल ची फलश्रुती.
साऊथ म्हटले की नाश्ता वडा, इडली, डोसा आणि जेवण म्हणजे फक्त राईस आणि राईस हे ओघाने आलेच पण ते ही सर्व ठिकाणी सुग्रास आणि चवदार मिळाले. पण परत आल्यापासून मात्र अजून तरी या पदार्थांचे नाव काढलेले नाही.
एकूण काय तर या टूर ने खूप आनंद दिला. प्रवासातील वेळ गाण्याच्या भेंड्या आणि रिल बनवण्यात छान गेला..प्रवास जाणवायचाच नाही त्यामुळे. सर्व सहभागी खूप आनंदाने आणि प्रेमाने या यात्रेत सामील झाले आणि ही दक्षिणेची वारी सुफल संपूर्ण झाली.

The southern pilgrimage, also known as Temple Trail

The southern pilgrimage, also known as Temple Trail, has been on my mind even after eight days since returning. The grandeur and intricate carvings of the temples left everyone in awe. We waited in line for darshan, immersed in the stories and legends of the gods and goddesses. Our group's collective good karma paid off, and we got to worship all the deities we wanted. The trip was a true success.

South India is synonymous with delicious food – Vada, Idli, Dosa, and rice. We relished these delicacies at every stop. But it's been a while since we've had them back home!

The trip was filled with joy, and the travel time flew by with singing, games, and making reels. Everyone participated with enthusiasm, making it a memorable journey.

The Temple Trail has come to an end, but the memories will linger.

 नैनिताल बिनसर - सुसाट हिमालय निसर्ग भ्रमंती

नैनिताल-बिनसर दौऱ्यावरून येऊन 2-3 दिवस झाले पण मन मात्र अजून तिथेच रेंगाळतय..

ते उंच उंच वृक्ष, घनदाट जंगल, वळणा वळणाचे रस्ते, दुरून दिसणारी बर्फाच्छादित अगणित शिखरे..नयना लेक आणि प्रचंड थंडी..खरंच अविस्मरणीय..

जेव्हा हिमालयात जातो तेव्हा मुंबई-पुण्याच्या मंडळींना मोठा प्रवास अनिवार्य..पण थोडा त्रास झाला तरी आपण जेव्हा हिमालयाच्या कुशीत शिरतो तेव्हा मात्र थकवा शीण कुठल्याकुठे पळून जातो..त्या थंड वाऱ्याच्या झुळुकींनी मन प्रफुल्लित होते..

असेच झाले नैनिताल मुक्कामी पोहोचल्यावर..सुंदर टुमदार घर..नाताळ साठी सजवलेले..बाहेर मोठ्ठी गच्ची..आत जाण्याआधीच सर्वांची फोटोग्राफी तिथे सुरू झाली..काहीजण विडिओ कॉल वरून घरच्यांना घर दाखवू लागले..

इथे तीन दिवस मुक्काम, खाण्या-पिण्याची रेलचेल..नैनिताल भटकंती, लेक मध्ये बोटिंग,किलबरी आणि पंगोट येथील पक्षी दर्शन,  टिफिन टॉप ला छोटा ट्रेक आणि प्रचंड खरेदी..

काही जणांना घेतलेले सामान ठेवण्यासाठी बॅगेची खरेदी पण करावी लागली..

रात्री रंगलेली गप्पांची मैफिल आणि कराओके ची गाणी..सगळेच भारी..

बिनसर जवळ तीलारी गावातील होम स्टे जरा वेगळा..गावापासून, शहरापासून दूर आणि हटके..

अतिशय सुंदर व कलात्मक बांधलेले घर..तीन मोठया खोल्या, त्यातील वरच्या दोन खोल्यांना पोटमाळा, खाली किचन व पुढे मोठ्ठे लॉन..रात्री अंगणात शेकोटी..सगळे स्वप्नवत..

मग एक दिवस जागेश्वर महादेवाचे दर्शन, एक दिवस जंगल भटकंती..तिथे रात्री शेकोटीजवळ बसलो असताना गावकऱ्यांनी सांगितले कि गावात बिबट्या आला होता..आणि मग सगळे आपापल्या खोलीत गपगार..रात्री बिबट्याची स्वप्नं..आणि भास..

आणि ट्रिप संपली पण बघता बघता..मग परतीचा प्रवास..काठगोदामला चक्क 'उडपीवाला' नावाचे हॉटेल आणि उडपी डोसा, इडलीवडे असा मेनू...पंजाबी फूड खाऊन कंटाळा आलेल्या जीव्हेला थोडा दिलासा..

मग प्रवास..प्रवास करीत घरी परतलो..

आणि आता पुढच्या वेळी डिसेंबरमध्ये कुठे जायचं याचा विचार सुरू पण झालाय..पण ट्रीपला बरोबर मात्र आताचे सर्वजण मात्र हवेत हं !

अवचित गड - अवचित गवसलेले सुखाचे क्षण

                 अवचित गड 

सभोवती गर्द हिरवाई, पूर्ण जंगलातून वर चढत जाणारी पायवाट, 1 तासाची चढाई, पावसाने केलेली निसर्ग सौंदर्याची लयलूट.., किल्ल्यावर जाताना येणारे पक्षांचे संगीत त्याला बाजूने खळखळत वाहणाऱ्या पाण्याची साथ..

वर चढून गेल्यावर अचानक दिसणारे किल्ल्याचे प्रवेशद्वार, थोडेसे लपवलेले गोमुखी बांधणीचे..ते ओलांडून आत गेल्यावर एक पडके द्वार व नंतर खूप मोठ्ठा तलाव..त्याकाळी किल्ल्यावर खूप लोक रहात असावेत ते सांगणारा..नंतर एक शंकराचे - पिंगळसई ग्रामदेवतेचे लहानसे देऊळ , पण नवीन बांधकाम केलेले आणि थोडे खाली उजव्या बाजूस उतरले कि पाण्याची टाकी. एकदम स्वच्छ वाहते पाणी  कदाचित पावसाळा असल्यामुळे.. पाण्याची चव अतिशय मस्त, मधुर.. सगळा शीण घालवणारी. तिथे एक छोटे देऊळ व दगडात कोरलेली तलवारधारी योध्याची प्रतिमा, ती बाजी पासलकर यांची आहे म्हणतात..तिथेच डावीकडे एक सुस्थितीत असलेली दरवाजाची कमान. तिथून पुढे गेल्यावर थोडे डावीकडे वर गेले कि एक पडका टेहळणी                                          बुरुज..असाच एक बुरुज किल्ल्याच्या दुसऱ्या टोकाला आणि एकदम सुस्थितीत..

बुरुजावरून परत खाली येऊन थोडे पुढे जाऊन खाली उतरून गेल्यावर दोन डोंगरांना जोडणारा एक लाकडी पूल..हीच किल्ल्यावर येण्याची दुसरी वाट..

जेवण झाल्यावर पुन्हा परतीची तीच पण आता पावसाने निसरडी झालेली वाट..पुंन्हा गर्द हिरवाईत व पावसाच्या सरी झेलत गावात परत..

खूप वेगळा व निसर्गाजवळ घेऊन जाणारा अनुभव..

आता सुसाट ही एक family होत चाललीये त्याचा पुन:प्रत्यय या ट्रेक मध्ये आला..

There are some places on earth which are made up only for some specific seasons. Monsoon is a season that probably brings a limelight to places that are least visited during other seasons. One such place I visited a while ago is tamhini ghat.

A part of western ghats ,the place has a characteristic feel of the western ghats with fog,mist,wind and a plethora of combinations of cloud formations.
This is a mystical place in a sense that you are gazing into the vast expanse of the valley with a perfect whiteout for a little while and clear view of what lies beneath in other instant.

A certain reason why people flock here around on weekends is myriad of waterfalls and streams where people can chill out. With absolutely nothing that can stop the incessantly flowing water and rains this place really is mini heaven for nature lovers and is a real stress buster.

For some of us who love to photograph things ,there is a lot to experiment here with streams,stones and their wonderful combinations.A stream flowing ceaselessly amidst all the stones and rubbles always inspiring human nature to keep moving.......

For a change one can try out a hand at candid shots as there are many people wandering around the
vast expanses of the plains of this beautiful place.The mist creates a wonderful mood in the picture below where a couple keeps walking against strong winds......

Being close to metropolitan cities, tamhini ghats is not short of many unnatural structures like towers and electric poles. Creating silhouettes of these structures against the background of mists n clouds gives a wonderful ambience in the pictures. A transmisson tower in between two hills shows a contrast of natural powers and unnatural things.

Monochrome images showing combinations of trees and the ambience of monsoon always has been something different to capture.Monotone is instrumental in giving an enigmatic feel to the images,which this place deserves for sure.Western ghat terrains have always been a delight to visit in monsoons and to photograph them in monotones is really a treat.

Standing trees on cliffs always reminds of some strong men who always stood tall amidst difficult conditions. Nature in itself provides us with innumberable things to get inspiration from. I hope we all oblidge that some day or the other........

Viewmaginations - Nagzirian Vignettes

Nagzira.... A jungle in maharashtra that as of now does not have that kind of glamour as bandhavgarh or kanha but sure gives a run for money when it comes to sighting tigers this season.With the news of regular sighting of a tigress and her two cubs(that are christened jay and Viru) the forest is having rush and glamor too.


We were greeted by an Indian Gaur just as we entered the gate. It was crossing the safari track along with two others.Its size can be easily gauged by the fact that a full grown gaur can cover a safari track easily.

Apart from the famous tiger trio, Nagzira is also famous for wild dogs aka dhol too.Its a common sight here to see them in herds and having a breather in water holes.

There are ample birds about 60 to 70 types of different birds that can be sighted in Nagzira. Among them I found Indian pitta most beautiful.Sighted it on a perch near the safari track.

As we were venturing into the jungles we heard the news of the mother tiger sighted near the water holes.We went towards that spot soon but to our dismay we found hoards of gypsies and private vehicles.nevertheless we did sight a tiger and unsurprisingly her two cubs also joined in to give her company in the waterhole.

Sighting on the next day was eventful as there was news of a  kill early morning at 5 am ,which to our luck wasn't a rumor. As our gypsy approached the gaur galli road we saw the tiger cubs feasting on the sambar kill.It was kind of gross view but then this is WILD. To see the tiger with a kill is certainly something that remains in mind for a long time and also shows its character.

Its a treat to observe tiger behavior when it has a kill. A tiger seems to be a real glutton when it comes at chomping meat and specially when it is hungry.
It was surprising to see one of the tigers guarding the kill and the others taking turn to be at the waterhole for quenching thirst after heavy meals.

Above picture shows the A-mark mother tiger with its son,and other son meanwhile guarding the hunt. After these two departed the other tiger came in and did the same.

Many moods of the tiger can be captured specially when its a cub since it is very inquisitive of its surrounding. It even smells trunks and other such objects out of sheer curiousness.

A tiger cub is also wary of the sounds and is very probing about them. A pic shows its alertness as a vehicle honked an unnecessary horn.A typical problem in nagzira as the forest allows many private vehicles along with the gypsies for the safaris.Inspite of forest guards trying to convince people to leave after 5-10 mins of sighting,adamant people dont leave their prime place of sighting which results in desperate people taking some desperate measures.


Denizens of Nagzira also include some common species like langurs ,spotted deers ,sambars etc.
The atmosphere is month of may is dry and hot and even langurs can't hide their resentment towards the heat.

A sambhar watches closely of any vehicles around before crossing road.

Nagzira surely is a wonderful place to be in summers with such nice sightings. As it is near to Nagpur connectivity is not a major issue.

 After the rains most of the denizens move to inner parts of the jungle so sighting is rare in winters and in monsoon the park is closed. Since the siblings and mother tiger are bonded together ,sighting was comparatively easy.After the two male cubs seperate and form their own territory sighting them would not be so easy.

Still we'll be waiting for the new cubs and have a dejavu of these scenes ....along the gaur galli road or the water holes......its now that I realize why wildlife photography is also called natural history photography too.....memories to cherish for us as the animals perform their regular chores.........
